Pics.

Published by Fat Man

OK, it’s time. Somewhere in here I promised I’d load a few photographs to *show* you know what’s happening to me over the fast years.

First off, this is a photo of me sitting quietly in a pub with friends in 1990, really not very long after leaving college with my Master of Computer Science degree in my unknowing hands. As you can see, I was looking fairly good (tho I say so myself). My shirt was clearly too large for me and despite being 43 years old at the time, was fit and healthy. Whilst in college I’d been doing aerobics classes, playing squash… and walking to and from the local train station to the college (a 30 min trot each way on a good day).

Me in 1990

Contrast that, if you will, with this… the current photo of me as taken for the Focus gym’s Biggest Loser competition. Notice a change anywhere?? Well yes there are twenty years under the bridge, but the main difference is that in the photo above I was 85 – 90 kilos… and in the one below… 157.9 kilos. Bit of a difference. But wait… there’s more.

Me Today

This picture of health and beauty was me last Christmas. Believe it or not I was 30 kilos *lighter* then than I was when I started the Biggest Loser program. The minimum I expect to return to during the program is this size… and from then on it can only improve. Let’s face it you’d think it couldn’t get worse (except it did of course).

Me in early 2007

So. What now? Where am I? what do I look like right *now*? Well the current look is somewhere between the two photos below. I made an ‘executive decision’ not to publish photos of myself until the half-way point of the competition… but I decided in the end to wait until after the competition to emphasise the difference. As it turns out I needn’t have bothered… but still I meant well.

Of course the story doesn’t end here… or there. My target is to get myself looking at least physically the same as the guy in the top photo… and for that I’ll need to have lost nearly half my body weight from the original at the start. That’s a big ask. Losing 70+ kilos will take a lot of willpower and effort.

Watch the space… see what happens.

Ok… did you watch? If so you might have missed these…

Chris before competition.

This, for example, is the ‘full body’ shot taken just as the competition began. As you can see I was no lightweight. I was 157.9 Kilos then and felt every one of them… despite smiling for the photos!!

And then there’s this next…

Chris December after competition ended.

Now believe it or not… I weighed in here at 119.4 kilos! Which represented loss of 24% of my original body weight! Strangely tho, to me at least, I don’t look any lighter or smaller than I did before I started. If anything I think I look even *bigger* than before!! This is perhaps due to my face being a lot thinner? Not to worry… as long I know I did lose the weight that’s all that counts. And of course… I’m off again on the weight loss roundabout. I put 10 kilos back on so have to lose that and another 20 kilos to get down to my first target weight of 100 kilos. The final ‘target’ weight is 80 kilos… but I can’t see me getting there right now. But Hey… who knows. I didn’t think I’d lost 30 kilos and I did!

By the way… the odd grey/white coloured hair is actually the fur on my Santa hat. The photo was taken at the Xmas party where the winners were announced. And as you can see I was *very* happy to have won. :)

So. As of March 2007 I’ve not yet lost all the weight I need to, but I’m a long way down the road towards it! And… if all goes well… the *next* set of photos in a few months will show a *much* thinner… and probably a lot wrinklier… me. Fingers crossed. I can handle the wrinkles :D
